Danfoss is a GreenTec 2014 award winner
2014-06-18Danfoss won the Intelligent Urbanization Special Award, which is given to recognize a project or initiative that contributes to improving the quality of life in the urban space. The Danfoss Anshan project was selected into the top 10 finalists in tough competition with companies such as BMW, Philips and GE, and finally announced as the winner.
“It is a great honor for us to win this prestigious award. Together with COWI and our partners in Anshan, we have developed a district heating solution that will help Anshan fight pollution and save energy. We really appreciate the acknowledgement for this project, which can be replicated in other cities as well,” says President of Danfoss District Energy Lars Tveen.
The solution enables Anshan to direct surplus heat from a local steel plant into the district heating network so it is utilized instead of lost via the chimneys. The solution will significantly reduce CO2 emissions and improve the air quality for the close to four million habitants and, at the same time, it will save energy and money.
The award was handed over to Danfoss in Anshan prior to the actual GreenTec Awards gala ceremony in Berlin.
